Marisol's first official birthday at home was on July 3rd. We had such a fun time celebrating with her! We let her sleep until she was ready to wake up. She got to pick her "special" breakfast and then family gifts were opened in our room (by Marisol's request). Omar was so excited to buy her presents. He put a lot of thought into them. He got her a skip it, Pooh Bear writing pad, a horse toy, a kite and a mini tennis racket/ball set. We got her a stereo for her room, an alarm clock and some cds for her stereo/cd player. After, the kids played while I started to decorate Marisol's cake we made the day before. Marisol helped me decorate the cup cakes with sprinkles. Then we filled the pinata with candy and started decorating the house for the party. I put a balloon out by the mailbox and then had balloons in the house. I hung a fiesta sign in front of the door. Omar went with me to buy the paper plates, cup, party hats, and candy bags for the pinata candy. We laid all the party stuff on the table and finished getting ready for the party. We decided to just invite family over for Marisol's first party at home. We had a great turn out! And those that were not able to come were so sweet to call and wish Marisol "Happy Birthday" and send her a gift.
When everyone arrived, we started with gifts and then had cake, cupcakes and ice cream. Then we headed over to the church to do the pinata. We didn't have anywhere to hang the pinata at home and it was hot and windy outside. The type of pinata we got was a pull pinata, (thanks Jenn and Katie). I love the pull pinatas. No bats flying around small kids and everyone opens the pinata together! The kids had so much fun filling their bags with candy. There was even left overs for the adults! Once the pinata was opened, families started to leave. We went back home and played some of the wonderful games and toys Marisol got for her birthday.
Around 5:30 Ellie, Sara, Heather and Jason stopped by to wish Marisol "Happy Birthday". They stayed for a cupcake and a quick game then headed out. We then got ready for Marisol's birthday dinner. She choose hamburgers so we decided to take her to Pounders (one of our favorite hamburger places). The kids and I had hamburgers and Eric had a chicken sandwich. It was very yummy. The at 8 we headed to Dave Thiele's house to wish him "Happy Birthday" and do fireworks and eat cheesecake. What a fun filled day of celebrating!
Happy Birthday my dear, sweet Marisol! We love you and are so glad you are home with us!
