Wednesday night we had an offer put on our house and it went under contract! The cute couple buying our place is having a baby in August so they want to be moved in by July 31-August 1. That made me panic a little! Not only do we need to be out by July 31st but we need to find a place put in an offer, go under contract, close and move by july 31st ourselves. Yikes!
So Wednesday night was full of searching for homes, calling our realtor and getting calls from our friend Kellie from California. Kellie called with really good news! Our second court date is still on Thursday July 2 at 8:45 am. Then she proceeded to tell us that we have an immigration meeting set up for Wednesday (July 1st) morning at the border. So we need to leave earlier than planned. I will miss teaching CORE on Tuesday but it will work out. But then she wasn't finished. We also have our DIF social services appointments set up on Thursday July 2nd at 11:00am. That is unheard of! We were expecting to make 3 separate trips to get all three things done. Ivone (our lawyer) is a miracle worker! Wonderful blessings and news came in hours that night. We were so happy we couldn't breathe, talk or think. And forget about sleeping!
Thursday was spent running around trying to make sense of everything that happened the night before. Our darling realtor picked us up at 10:30 am to start the house hunt. We went back to 2 we had seen before, but she had 2 others for us to see. We loved/liked all of them. We came home and tried to make sense the hard choice we had to make. One house is on a short sell which is one step before foreclosure. The bank has possession of the house and accepts offers until they get one they like. The realtor it is listed with submits all offers by a given date and waits for the bank to decide. So this process usually takes months. Another house we looked at we originally put in an offer 2 weeks ago but they didn't accept it because our house wasn't under contract yet. When we went to see it again, we just didn't get the "this is it vibe" we got before. The other 2 new houses we looked at were great! Yards were done, partially fenced, great space, good vibes ect. We ruled out one right away because it was at the top of our budget and even though I loved it, I wasn't comfortable with the price. The other one was great too, but with some negatives it slid out of consideration. So which house did we choose?
This one!
This is the house that was on a short sale. We found out from the realtor that Thursday was the deadline for all offers. He had to go to the bank on Friday with the best offer he received. So we raced down to put in an offer with our realtor Thursday afternoon around 3pm. We felt good about our choice and were anxious to hear any news. Luckily at 5:15pm that same day we heard word that our offer was submitted and accepted! Wow! our lives just change dramatically! Here are some pictures for you to get a glimpse of our new place.
Large spacious down stairs
Walk out basement
Great big kitchen!
I know it is very white, but we will warm it up with paint, color and our furniture. It was too good of a deal to pass up. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. The downstairs is completely finished but another room can be framed if needed. It sits on a .29 acre lot. We get to fence it and landscape it, but we are ready for the challenge!
Eric has pictures on his blog of the house decorated from the past owners. Check it out!
