We celebrated our 11th anniversary this weekend! We were blessed to have my parents come and stay with the kids. We decided to get away as locals would. I worked a half day and then came home at noon. We made last minute cleaning, notes and organizations for my parents. We packed and then headed out for a weekend of being kid free.
We realized how for granted our past anniversaries had been. Having kids 24/7 is harder on getting away even for a night. Last year we were in Mexico finalizing our adoption so our big 10 year celebration was spent in Juarez in a hotel room shared with the kids-so romantic. But we really wouldn't have had it any other way! So this year we decided to "get away".
We started off going to lunch at Cafe Sabor and doing their "Date Night" special-a meal with movie tickets! We then headed to the movies to see the Adjustment Bureau. I really liked it! Then we checked in at the Anniversary Inn in Logan. We found an awesome deal online. We ended up staying in the African Safari room, very comfy! We relaxed, got dinner at Jimmy John's Sandwich shop, went back to the room and watched White Collar. We love this show! It is a smart, witty, drama on USA network. Eric got season one from my parents for Christmas and we have cruised through season one. Season two is on our Tivo, but we couldn't bring the Tivo with us for the weekend, so we finished off season one. We crashed at 11, pathetic I know, but slept really well in the dark and comfy room. We had a great "lion-inn", watched 2 1/2 silly movies on TBS (but really who has time for that now a days) and checked out at noon.
We got home to find all was well, the kids were happy and most important, my parents survived the kids overnight! Thanks mom and dad for helping us out!
