This year has flown by for our family! It all started last
Thanksgiving when we were expecting the call for us to
down to Mexico to start the finalization process. The
call never came and we knew we would be spending our
third (and hopefully final) Christmas down in Mexico.
After the New Year, we tried as patiently as we could for
the call. It came on President’s Day. How excited and
relieved we were! We packed up and headed to Mexico
February 17th. We had several hiccups along the way, but
made it to Juarez, Mexico the beginning of March only
to wait some more. We were out of patients, money, and
beginning to think we were never coming home. We got
the last appointment on Friday, March 12 at the
consulate. If we hadn’t had that appointment, we knew
we would be stuck in Juarez for another week. We crossed
the border Saturday, March 13 just in time. We later
found out there was a shooting of two American Consulate
workers which resulted in the consulate closing for weeks
after. We feel so blessed to have gotten out when we did!
We made it to the El Paso International Airport to find
no flights available anywhere! It was Spring Break for
Colleges and Universities. We stressed about what to do.
While the kids and I got lunch, Eric checked out all 7 car
rental places and again everything was booked. We just
had to laugh at this point! We made it 34 months and
now of all places were stuck in El Paso for 3 days. We
headed to a motel to wait out the days. It was our forced
vacation with no money. We made the best of it. We got
a flight to SLC on Monday, March 15 and finally made
it home to Nibley Tuesday, March 16. The kids wanted
to jump right into school. They have been thriving ever
since! We did summer school at home with them to help
with the language and some catch up. They are both in
2nd Grade and love it! Their adjustment has been so easy.
We are truly so blessed and thankful for everyone’s help &
support! We were able to go through the Logan Temple
on September 18th to be sealed as an Eternal Family.
That is when I felt like our painfully long adoption
process was truly over! We know the Lord guided us and
helped us along the way! Merry Christmas! Love, Us

Jeff and I were just talking this morning on what a year it has been! But at the same time I can't believe the kids have only been home since March, it seems like they've been here much, much longer. Love you guys!!!!!
