Birthdays, parades, pumpkin walk, carving pumpkins, crazy hair day at school and costumes; Oh my!

What a full month October has been! We had a lot of fun introducing Autumn and Halloween to the kids. We started off the month with decorating the house. The kids loved helping me put up Halloween lights and decorations. We went to a local pumpkin patch and let the kids pick out their own pumpkins. They had the best prices in town! All four of our pumpkins only cost $6. What a busy month it has been! Hailey and Eric are wiped out.
We were able to go see my mom for her birthday and help her celebrate with her mom and two sisters. Then the kids were invited to a birthday party where they went bowling and had pizza. They loved bowling! Omar got a score of 99 and Marisol had a score of 72.

We attempted the Pumpkin Walk this year. We asked some from who live up close to the Pumpkin Walk if it was up and running and they said yes. So we got Eric's parents to go out with us one night. As we were heading up there, I googled the location on my phone and went to their home page to find the dates to be later that week. So we went anyway to see them settign up the scenes and take pictures. The kids had a great time anyway.

We attended the USU homecoming parade this year. It's been years since we went to one. The kids are finding out that parades mean CANDY! The are always in the mood for a parade, even if it is cold. I am always amazed at the amount of candy kids get at parades!

We decided to carve pumpkins one night for Home Evening. Omar was set on a pirate pumpkin, so Eric found a trace online for him to use. Poor Marisol was having so much fun emptying her pumpkin and drawing on it, that she ended up with a poka-dotted pumpkin. I did the classic funny face and Eric tried a zombie face. We saved a roasted the pumpkin seeds, which brought back all sorts of memories.

The kids had crazy hair day at school on Friday. We tried to put a cup under Marisol's hair and make a fountain of hair come out the top. It worked pretty good. Poor Omar had really short hair and we didn't want to shave it for the cold weather, so Eric let Omar wear his Scottish wig for the day.

We made camel apples for the first time and the kids made some for their teachers at school. They turned out pretty good.

Omar decided he wanted to be a cowboy for Halloween. He changed from a hot dog to a pirate to a cowboy. So we went looking for a costume at the Halloween store. We found a pretty good one. We borrowed Ellie's costume for Marisol. Marisol wanted to be a pirate. Ellie had a great costume and Marisol looks darling in it!

Today we went with Dave, Helena and fam, Tyson and Shannon and family to the mall to go Trick-or-Treating. The kids had a lot of fun dressing up and collecting candy. They were in culture shock with all the people. We came home ate lunch and let the kids rest while watching a movie so we could catch up on emails, bills, blogs and so much more.

they look great in their costumes! I wish I could have been there. Now you can collect on the "parent tax" after all of the trick-or-treating.
